what i have now
2 otos
1 dwarf puffer
2 guppies (the female is going to have fry.. just can't control them -_- )
1 female platy (which had fry that i'm trying to give away.. or should i keep a few?)

planning on getting
1 or 2 dwarf frogs (to control the fish pop. if the platy or guppy has anymore fry)
13 red cherry shrimps (which i can move to a 5 gallon.. but i don't have a heater for it so don't want to move the fish there until it gets warmer here)

will the dwarf frog and the shrimp compete for food since they're both bottom feeders?

so what i really want to have in my 10 gallon..
2 otos
1 dwarf puffer
2 or 3 guppies (two male ones or two female and one male)
2 or 3 platies (two same gender or two female and one male)
5 red cherry shrimps
1 or 2 dwarf frogs

or is that too much?

thanks for any comments

Just replied to this post in a differant section!!

Stocking not to bad, but likley you will have problems with the DP & guppies.

personally i would say thats too much, thats about 17" of fish, frogs and shrimps, im surpised your dwarf puffer gets along with your livebearers, mine are aggressive, as most are.shrimps add very little, if any to the waste build up and therefore 5 could be added, but your puffer might eat them.again dwarf frogs dont add much waste, and will not compeat for food with the shrimps, but the platies and guppies, being the greedy buggers they are, will eat most of the frogs food before they reach it, feeding after lights out migh help, saying that i have 2 frogs with my platies and they do well, i feed extra bloodworms at night, and squirt them near my frogs using a turkey baster.the shrimps will scavange eating anything they came across.ottos are great little fish, need good quality water and a matur tank.i would probally add 3 or 4 as they are shoaling fish that like to be with their own kind.
what you have now sounds ok,its possable to sell the females and buy males, that way you have the guppies that look good, but no fry, also your frogs will eat the odd fry if it catches it, but as fry hide and frogs dont o much hunting, some fry will still survive.what ever you do with the livebearers, always get more females than males, 1 male to 2 females is fine.again frogs like their own company so get 2.
your stocking could be :3 guppies and 3 platies, 2 frogs, 4 ottos and a handful of shrimps.
i know you have a puffer, but i dont see it getting alond with your frogs or shrimps.
any other questions, please ask

Dwarf puffer wo'nt do anything to the guppies for a while but after awhile you will see nips on the fins then bang a hole fin gets bitten off then dead. i know this i had to get rid of the dwarf puffer before it killed it. :(
