always keep lids on

stupid me, after the male jumped out ... forgot to put the lid on the females tank while i rinsed out sand for another tank, i come back and there she is lying on the floor... shes not doing well and will probably die today or tomorrow..

dont be a moron like me and leave the lid off .. not even for 10 minutes...

youd think id have learned the first time...

stupid me left the lid off for 10 mins and now i have no wilds

yea they do... im so pissed at myself.. i opened the lid to put in a few pots i bought, and forgot to put the lid back on... i was away for like 15 mins and come back and i had a bad feeling when i saw the lid off and i just knew she was on the floor somewhere... shes in a container now chilling.. she wasnt as bad as the male, and the male looked fine before i went to bed, but he died overnight..

shes chilling on the bottom of the container breathing weirdly... but i think i might have given the male a heart attack.. he wasnt moving so i tapped the container and he went ape... flew all over the container... i jus turned the light off and went to bed and when i woke up he was dead.. so i donno..

im just gonna leave the female till tonight.. and if shes ok in about 3 hours ill put her back in her 20g tank WITH THE LID ON

Ew no good. Sorry to hear it. Like I said, I know how you feel. I left the lid off once and lost one of my males. Another time I had the lid on, with absolutely no holes (can't have those either so watch it), and he popped it up enough to get out. Saved him though... Anyways, even if you have holes for the filter, cover every single little possible area around it too, or they'll jump out those. Especially after one jumps out, all the others follow. Trust me, it's weird, but true. Good luck.

the female seems fine now.. shes swimming normally, and breathing fine... so im pretty sure she is gonna pull through... in a few hours if shes still fine ill put her back in her 20g and hopefully she will just chill out

im getting 2 males from someone online, and another pair of some mouthbrooder... he hasnt emailed me back yet with the names of the other types of mouthbrooders he has.. so i have to wait to find out which ones he has, then find out about them, then ill choose

thats a bummer nibbles sorry bout the loss of your male i'm glad to hear that is sounds like your girl will pull through.

i lost one of my fave vt boys that way, went away canada day wkend and came back to find him on my carpet floor my mum had been looking after him and i guess she'd left the lid ajar when feeding that morn and he snuck out.
