Okay quick question Aluminium Mesh in a fish tank good bad idea? will it rust is my main concern, i intend to use this

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_189682_langId_-1_categoryId_165625

to tie town some grass, was going to poke the grass through it to stop my fish digging it up and then cover it in sand so it looks alright,
no idea where to get fabric mesh or what items are made from fabric mesh that will work any suggestions would be great :D

i only tend for it to be a short term thing hopefully no more than a month to two months but if i can get fabric i can keep it in longer :D

thank you all if you can help

I'm not sure about aluminium. It ought to be safe, but I'm not sure I'd want to do it.

If you want fabric, the stuff you need is craft mesh fabric; most hobby places will have it, it's used for rag rugs and tapestry, mostly. You might also be able to find a beach bag made out of the stuff that you could cut up.

In freshwater, you'll not likely see any issues.

In marine, you'll probably end up with a mess.

Thank you guys I did find some pond protector betting at b&q so I got that for the plants but I am using the metal mesh for my DIY filter
Inlets works a treat there and I'm using fresh water il keep Checkin cleaning it and fingers crossed no damage so far thank you anyway :) il keep in mind for future salt water maybe :)

Depends on the grade of aluminium, there are quite a few different types that vary in many ways, aluminium does corrode in salt water, we use a special grade at work for boat parts that doesn't corrode, I have no idea if fresh water will corrode it though.

okay thank you, not sure what grade it is, but its from halfords and used on car repairs :D

Hello

See http://www.ebay.co.u...=item23265134eb

Our local Poundstretcher does a version of this for about £1.50 . This is for a 39cm diameter disk of what appears to be resin coated fibre/string mesh. I'm going to try this stuff as a planting mesh.

Other uses: Does perfect pizzas as well!
