I need to move my large angel. "She" is in a 29g alone now and I am moving her to a new 90g soon.

What is the best way to move this large angel? "Her" finnage is 12" from top to bottom.

I would take a large container... like one used for juice in the kitchen or similar... and chase her into it, then just pour her into whatever tank shes going into. I have found this to be the easiest and less stressful method of moving large fish.

Thanks Amber, and ,

I want to introduce my large angel to other angels, is this going to be a problem? I have a new 90g with no fish in it right now, and I want to figure out if I can have perhaps a pair , or more, angels in this tank....Will a large angel be ok in a tank with a few (3-5) juveniles while they grow up?

I have had mixed opinions on this so far....hmmm
I guess (it is a guess) that if the tank is heavily planted that juvenile angels might be ok with a full grown one...?

Also, I would LOVE TO keep two angels and two discuss in this tank, 85% of the time I have been told no chance; but a few EXPERIENCED aquarists have suggested that in a large 90g that is very under stocked it could work....comments?

I do not agree with mixing Angels and Discus, for me it just didn't work out, and there is the possibility of the Angels carrying diseases harmful to the Discus. Ignoring both of these issues, you should not keep any two Discus together, you should only keep bonded breeding pairs.

If I was you I would decide which fish I wanted to keep the most and then keep a group of them so you can watch how they how interact with one another. Also consider that keeping Discus is more involved and slightly more complex than keeping Angels.

There are plenty of posts on here already discussing keeping them together and keeping Discus on their own, I suggest you do a search and post again if you have any questions.

Depends on the size of the juvi's. I wouldn't put them in with anything really small as they'd probably get picked on, best bet is to get angels that are 3/4 inches and they should be able to handle the big one.

For moving them, just get a big net. I've had to move my Oscar before and we've got what we call the trawler net it's huge, just get him in that as you would any other fish. The big net also came in handy when we upgraded my community of little fish last week, just run it down the tank, was getting 3/4 fish everytime with 0 effort.

:)

I second the big net idea, large angels really don't fight being netted like other large cichlids, perhaps due to their body shape. I've put adults & dime size angels together, the larger angels don't see the smaller ones as a threat as they aren't mature yet. Once they mature you may have some aggression issues.
