Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone had any alternative ideas on how to attach plants/moss to wood?

I have a large root block in my tank that I want to attach some java fern and moss to but I can't use cotton thread as I can't get underneath wood to tie it round...

Are there other, tried and tested ways to attach plants in this situation?

Once again not really an option as the wood is already in a running tank and therefore underwater... Thanks for the suggestion tho!

you could get a small media bag or some tights and fill it with gravel and hang it over, or even just balance a pebble on it. doesnt have to weigh that much/ be big.

If it is moss, there isnt really any otherway. Cant you empty the tank until the wood is just poking out of the water? Superglue only takes 2mins to dry.

The lowering the water level would work with some of the sections of wood but not others. I was thinking of using some form of netting weighted down in the corners to secure some things. Not sure how that would work for plants like Java Feron or Anubias barteri.

I another thought I has was to attach the above plants to small(ish) rocks and place them on/near the wood...

Ended up going with plan B for the Java Fern and attached a small plant I had in another tank to a small piece of slate and placed it where I wanted it.

I have used light test, lead-free fishing line with great success. The really fine line can even be used with a needle. Other options include a course net, hair nets, aida cloth. The nets I find a problem though with perhaps some fish getting stuck in them.
