Alternative To Water Cond. ?

Isn't there like a way you can remove the chemicals out of tap water by letting it sit for 24 hours or something? I asked on another forum, but they didn't really provide the answers I needed.. so I was wondering about this, and unless my memory died, then I think I read somewhere about it.

If you only have chlorine, it will gas out in around 24 hours with aeration. Most municipal water supplies add chloramine as well, this won't gas out for a few weeks.
