Alternative Lighting Question

instead of using another clip on type light for a nano cube could one of these not be used and get the same results if not better as this one is 40 watt here

Yeh you could thats what Moody uses over his tropica nano and he gets riccia to pearl . The only trouble is he's is around 8lt (?) and the free cube is 25lt so it might not be enough. Halogen bulbs these lights have are not as good either as they dont produce light of the same intensity as fluorescent tubes and get very hot. If it were me, I'd save the £25 quid you'd spend on that light and get something more designed for planted tanks.
