Alright. I have a standard 10G long tank with beach sand as the substrate. I have two large pieces of driftwood that dominate the tank currently. The substrate is approximately around an inch deep, give or a take a little.

I hope to invest in new lighting to grow some plants in my tank, but Im looking for advice. As I am new to fishkeeping, I would like something that is easier to maintain and will live on it's own. No snails in the tank so thats not a worry.

Here's what I want. Maybe you guys can help!

-Foreground plant. I'd like something that will reach the top of the tank, or at least cover a large portion of the background.

-Small plant that will spread across the substrate to give my tank a lush green look.

-Easy to maintain plants that will be placed in the tank (2, maybe 3 main plants?)

-Finally, perhaps something that will grow on the wood i've got in the tank? Thanks so much.

Also, my 10G holds 2x 25 watt lights. Will this suffice? Also I noticed that hardware stores sell flourescent bulbs for much cheaper, If i find one that fits it's acceptable to use in my hood right?

Plants that grow very fast and large are something I'd like too.
Thanks all!
