I have had these fish for about a year now and they only dropped one time, all I got was two fry and they ate one already.
for some reasome it seems like the female never puts on any weight. I feed bloodworm once a week and green flake everyday. do I need more
meat in there diet. They are kept in a 20 lond with plants, its just the pr and one fry. temp stays about 70deg. any help, I want to get one more
good drop before they kick off themeselves.

Great fish these are, they act more like a goby coming from the high lands in Mexico with cool, fast flowing water.

Their not easy to breed, and getting a few fry is great, I feed mine on mainly brine shrimp with a little flake food. Good amounts of live food is best.
I kept mine in the mid to low 60's for 3-4 months then allowed it to rise to low 70's in the summer, allowing to rest before thinking about breeding.
They love large tanks mine were in 3ft tank with several fish and breed them 3-4 times a year.

hi dwfish
a themp- of 7of is fine to get them in good breeding condition it is best to feed them plenty of live foods 2 or 3 times a week.
this fish is very good at attacking killing and even eaten there new born young. as soon as you see the fry it is best to remove them .
femles only get a little bit on the plump side some times looking like they have had a little to much food to eat brood size can very usually less
then 14 fry.

Looks like I'm not giving them enough meaty foods. I will try to up the protein. Thanks for the tip.
