Cool, yuo're gonna have fun!

How much total lighting are you going to have?
What kinda 'scape are you gonna go for?

If I was you, I'd probably wait til you got back, unless you think you can get it all set up and running smoothly AND find someone competent to take care of it while you're away...

Thats a hell of a spend! Bet it felt great! Just out of interest whats the black coal gravel and why do you need it if you've got ADA soil? Also why the two different lengths of light? Surely the more the better?

Sam

Looks like you got most of your equipment for a nice price. good buy!

It will be super fun. I am with pseud on the waiting till you get back part. If you go away just after setting it all up something might go wrong and you won't be there to fix it. Plus in the first few weeks of growth you will wanna be there to enjoy and watch it grow as there will be a large boost in growth right off the bat.

Goodluck with the project. keep the pics coming, excited to see how it turns out :hyper:

If you waited and leave the lights on whilst you're away, you might come back to a tank full of algae?

You could always make a start by wrapping some moss over the wood, it'll take time to grow anyway

I'd wait until you're back from your hols. Just in case you need to do some emergency plant removals!

Just a side note, any reason why your water line is so low?

Russ

Well firstly Sam. Yess it feels amazing and the graval is for a part of the tank that wont be planted like CAU. Also the smaller tube ordered is for the new starter kit the longer tube is for a current fitting and i will fill the other fitting wiht a 40W 4000k bulb.

Water line is low becasue im lazy.

Just explain this a little more please:

"the graval is for a part of the tank that wont be planted like CAU"

What do you mean by firstly planted like CAU but more to the point, "for the part of the tank" ??

Chris

BTW....thats a hell of a spending spree, i did mine over the space of 4 months so mine felt a little lighter on the pocket. Good on ya d00d, money well spent. I`d consider upgrading to an ADA diffuser if you get the spare money. Probably my favourate bit of kit in my whole tank.

Sorry about that im being lazy again. Right have you seen it where they get cardboard and place it to section off graval from ADA or other such substrates? Thats what im doing.. Any clearer?

Yes, it is.

Just to clarify. I am a huge fan of CAU and they have inspired my tank design no end, but that is not specifically a CAU technique. Most top aquascapers use that method.

Chris

I am excited to see the transformation from the orginal to the new.

Quick question. Is the ada soil black? and is that why your using coal so it looks the same?
