I have 8 Platties, 6 Females and 2 Males, and from the look of my untrained eye all the females look pregnant and at various stages of pregnancy. Is this normal, I knew Platties were breeders, but I had no idea that they could be this prolific.

I know 2 of the females came from my LFS pregnant, but I didn't expect the males to be THIS aggressive w/ the others.

Besides separating the males from the females, what can I do to slow down there mating insticts?

Also, I believe that most of the pregnancies are the handy work of my Red Wag male, as he is very dominant over my Sunburst male, practically forcing him to the weeds of the tank... is that normal that a male platy would go inter-coloration w/ the non-Red Wags? And what will the fry look like? I was planning on adding 2 White Calico or Panda Platties to the tank, but if the Red is going to breed w/ them then I will have to consider a new tank.

Thanks.

The colour doesn't matter, i have had many cross colours, they will either mix up, or you will get fry that look like both parents...
I tthink it looks nice when you get crosses, as they are all different :)
It is possible for all to be pregnant, that means that you will have a lot of work on your hands
If you want lots of different coloured platies but no babies, it may be best just to have a female only tank. Or male only tank
Here's a pic of a pregnant platy, you can see the eyes of the fry... http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://spaceisgreen.nl/spaceisgreen/photo/preg01.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.reptileforums.co.uk/forums/fish-keeping/625091-pregnant-platy.html&usg=__n9wcIcOWrRd9AdJwYLBbqAPnJXA=&h=1593&w=2123&sz=339&hl=en&start=0&sig2=s65gY3OScvx7d1J1_7oP8A&zoom=1&tbnid=BLjAmi5Uc_aYgM:&tbnh=147&tbnw=192&ei=QoAUTuKCF4mh8QP07NX6Bw&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dpregnant%2Bplaty%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DN%26rlz%3D1T4ACAW_en___GB398%26biw%3D1366%26bih%3D613%26tbm%3Disch&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=735&vpy=96&dur=85&hovh=194&hovw=259&tx=76&ty=122&page=1&ndsp=17&ved=1t:429,r:3,s:0&biw=1366&bih=613
