:dunno: Hello everyone,
I have a couple questions concerning my mollies. i have a 55 gallon with 3 black mollies; 2 gold dust mollies; and 2 balloon mollies; and lots of guppies and some bopttom feeders; 2 dwarf frogs; 2 killifish; and assorted tetra's.. I think that my gold dust molly if pregnant, and also i think my balloon molly is pregnant. How can i tell? I know that with guppies you see the dark gravid spot but what about mollies? Also can the different species of mollies can interbreed? thank ya'll in advance?

While there are different species of mollies none of the ones that you mentioned are different species. They are different strains or breeds but all from the same species. Its kind of like different breeds of dogs, they are all the same species but look different.

Its a little harder to tell pregnant mollies then it is with guppies, especially with balloon mollies. They will get fatter but its less noticeable then with guppies because they are larger to begin with. If you have females and males together though they will eventually produce young, its a guarantee.
