I think after i see what is all in my new batch of 7 fry i want to possibly get rid of all my females (to the pet store) and go with all males. They are in a 10gal. Would it be ok to just have all male guppies with no females?

Well i know it will be ok and live of course but are they happier and better with females in the tank?

Thanx,
Wolf

Here's what I said in a similar thread:

I'm not sure about only getting the same sex. I've been having problems with my tank of only males. They are very aggressive towards eachother. Two of my brightest colored males are chased harassed almost non-stop. Their tails have been nipped as well which then led to fin rot

I ended up adding 5 females to the tank but they arnt full grown yet so the males haven't taken much interest

It is not a very peaceful tank at the moment. I hate watching all the harassament. I just hope they take interest in the females soon.

They do breed a lot but if you leave the fry in the tank the majority of them will get eaten. I know it sounds sad but if you dont do that you'll be over-run with fry. Theres quite a few people on this forum who have had the same problems as I have with only keeping male guppies. If I were you I'd get 2-3 females to every male and I think you'll find there will be a lot less aggression in the tank.

I know a lot of people say..well the females are so boring color wise but I've seen very pretty females for sale at shops. Some even look like males with long tails and bright beautiful patterns

Just my opinion :)

I actually just ended up taking all my guppies but 3 to my lfs and got platies instead.

Hi there, my name is Ben and i have a small community tank that includes male Guppies. They are fine most of the time but some of the other fish nip their fins, so im guessing if they are alone in a tank you will be fine. They are a very good looking fish so you should have an interesting time. Ben :D

Well maybe ill just keep them how they are then :D

I have 7 male guppies in a community tank, they do chase each other a little bit, but more playfully than fighting. They also take turns being the girl.... I shall leave the rest to your imagination!!!!

I had a group of males in my tank when i took the pregnant females out for birthing. I made a big mistake because they were fighting all of the time....their nice tails were chewed up and they did not look happy.

I personally suggest you keep males and females but i can only speak from my personal experiences.....It is also fun to keep the males happy with the female (if ya know what i mean ;))
