I have a 260l bow front tank with a fluval 305 and 203.
The tank is reasonably well planted and appears to have a decent flow from right to left (not sure thats important  )

I have cadinals, head and tail lights, endlers, a couple of glowlights, a pair of bolivian rams and a golden panchax.
With the exception of the panchax, all of the fish are permanently in the lower third of the tank, until feeding time !!

I got these fish as I believed that they should swim in the upper third of the tank, but the top of the tank looks empty

Is there likely to be a reason for this?
Is there something I should check?

check the filter current, most fish don't like strong flow. that could be the reason why they avoid it by sticking to the lower area of the tank. i have my fluval 3plus at the lowest setting and i still find it to be too strong. point it to the side to hit the glass or a heater first, it will greatly reduce the flow strenght.
