ok cheers cheese will do that again

however i ahev doen that before, they just seem t like teh bottom

my plan is to add 6 more fireheads and 8 more neons hoping more dither fish will bring the others out more??

Were they any different before – or is it just today ? I know you changed the lighting – did their behaviour change with the lights perhaps ?

The two things that spring to mind

1 - temp - given that hot water rises, is your temp too hot and so the cooler water for the fish is at the bottom

2 - oxygen - could be linked to the above, as warmer water holds less disolved oxygen, but also related to other things, filter flow, plant matter etc. You may need to areate the water more to increase the amount of gas transfer.

I know you are a regular water changer, but is there any chance anything could have gotten in the tank between then and now? I only ask as if there was a foreign liquid introduced, this could have seperated and comtaminate the top of the tank, same if there were any disolved solids.

Perhaps try a water change now? Can work wonders sometimes.

I was about to suggest lighting...
Is the current strong at the top not so much at the bottom? Or is there any cover further up the tank - maybe you could try some floating plants?

see i think the current is storng but it is only a juwul satndard filter and i have been told that these are farily weak?

You have nothing to worry about. Neons hanging near the bottom is normal and as long as they're don't show signs of problems they're fine. The rummynoses may take security in hanging near the neons.
