All Dead Except Gouramis

I see it becoming clearer now.
Quite big fish in a small tank water quality will go down hill fast in hours.
You live and learn, we all make mistakes, sorry for your losses.
Good luck.

its just a wrench.

Don't know where to start.

Goldfish would do but then cleaning out a large tank useless.

then there is trying to set it all again.

The cycling takes ages and I know I wouldnot buy bala's but what.

I think I am going to take a nature calm and try and go back to bed perhaps I'll feel better tommorrow.

Yes I would go back to bed and get your head straight.
Maybe post tomorrow in chit chat to help you back on the path again.
Go and get a good night sleep.
Take care.

would it have been avery painful death for them???

Don't beat yourself up over it, its done now and can't turn the clock back.
You did your best for them, and thats what counts.
Go and get a good night sleep or you will be no good for the remaining ones.
I'm very sensitive when it comes to animals so no how you feel.

If I had been there at the time I would have noticed they must have gone very quickly I reckon there was a pocket or something.

My theory is the catfish got very aggitated at night and this would make all the balas go mad and hit of the side and then they would be defacating more into the water in turn so many so quickly would make nitrite and demand for o2 would be high and therfore the bala's died htis woulod make it too toxic for the loaches and the only surviving thing was Gouramis as she could air breathe. The pictus was dead to and the fish had no marks on them at all.

I would have thought brown guills or bits their as they would ave gasped for breath.

I'm so sorry for you losses tetragueen, you did all you could though to your best. The tank was still the better choice than putting the fish in buckets, in unfiltered buckets the fish would have died in them for sure, by putting them in a filtered tank though you gave them a chance.
How exactly did you Rio 400 break?
