i was reading about euthanising in the pinned topics and wondered why alka seltzer is used for euthanising and how exactly does it work?

I uppos the fish would just OD. Sounds horrible to me. I'd always go for clove oil.

yes you can use clove oil and vodka, but I once used a sleeping tablet from the chemist and that did the trick, calmed the fish down went to sleep and died.

Alka selter just makes the water very very alkaline and full of salts, causing death. Probably very stressful for the fish.

Can you usually get clove oil through your grocery store / drug store or is it something that you get through one of those "naturalist" specialty shops?

Would Vodka on it's own make the fish suffer?

Clove oil from your drug store for tooth ache, dunno about naturalist shops.

Heard the alcohol one and dunno whether its stressfull or not, I would stick to the tried and tested ways
