Alive But How

I drained my vision 260 and moved my American cichlids into a 60l temperary so I could move it and put a rio 400 in it's place. Any way I set up my vision in a different place with new cold water, turned filters and heater on, left for 4 hours and then notice eggs hatching under the juwel internal filter about 2 inches above the substrate clinged to the back structured back ground. I asume they are rainbow cichlids as I have a pair. But how have they survived, they would have been out of water for a hour and then in cold water for a few hours.

I strongly suspect that the eggs will no longer be viable.

However, I would still look after them and wait and see. You never know !

Yer it's definately worth a go, they are alive and deserve a chance at life. I put them in a floating thngy and they are wriggling, I got about 30, I'm going to set up a small tank and attempt to raise them. I got liquid fry food and I'm hatching out some brine shrimp so fingers crossed it's amazing that they are doing as well as they are.

If some of the eggs have got little "wrigglers" inside, then clearly they have survived. Good luck in raising them !

All have hatched and have doubled in size already. Not free swimming yet but are wriggling on the bottom.

out of the original 30 i only have 15 left but they have just started swimming around they look so sweet

Wow that is kind of a shock and really glad to hear that they are doing fine and moving. Really hope you take well care of them. Pictures would be good

Dont feed them untill the egg sack has gone. I have made this mistake before and lost the fry. Good luck

I still got 15 fry and they are feeding well on live brine shrimp they are 6 days old,
