Hi

How do you keep your algea down in betta tanks, got a 25ltr tank with undergravel filtration, gravel substrate, couple of plants and some bogwood, starting to get some hair algea and lots on the glass. Tank has been running for 3 weeks and had 3 full water changes.

How can I keep the algea down???

Cheers

I'm having some problems with algae in my 10gal as well. It was getting really bad with brown algae, then I started to use stuff called AlgaeFix.
It worked like a charm, but I'm not sure if it's coincidence, or if this stuff harmed my live plants, but the live plants went downhill quickly after using it. So I've stopped using it. Now I think I'm getting green algae  -_-

Anyways! I'm no expert with keeping algae down obviously, but I'm pretty sure there's a sticky topic in the plants section here that talks about how to get rid of algae and all that good stuff.

Lighting is a major factor, you are possibly having the lights on for too long, try having them on less. Ive put some moss balls in and reduced lighting time and the alage is much better, still a small amount but not a lot

Agreed on the lighting. Is the tank anywhere near natural light? My tank downstairs is about a meter away from our window and we get alot of it too. However we just clean it off when its water change day.
