Hi

I reckon algea is good because it shows that the tank is mature and well established. Most people think algea is bad and try and get rid of it at first sight with treatment, or spend ages scrubbing all of it off. I leave the back of my tank with algea still on it with the front clean, all the water properties are fine.

Using UV is pointless because the algea will ALWAYS come back when exposed to any type of light. So as soon as it goes in sunlight or tank light the algea starts growing again.
