LOL... he may think it's another algae eater... long, thin thing stuck to the glass with a sucker.

What kind of 'algae eater' is it?

if the link works lol

Well clearly that is a BAD thermometer and it must be punished. Your algae eater is only looking out for the tanks best interests ;-} That would be amusing to watch, I wish you had pictures!

Good research. CAE's can get real aggressive when they are older, and take chunks out of other fish. They are just slightly evil. So watch out as he/she matures! :)

Haha, they almost look like thermometers! Except that thermometer's eyes don't follow you everywhere. In fact, most don't have eyes at all. Except mine. :shifty:

My CAE does the same thing and it is now my routine in the morning to turn on the tank lights and search for the thermometer in the tank with him. I narrowed it down to him because in my other tanks, I have plecos and it never happens.

I know that some of those thermometers that hang on the inside of the tank have bad chemicals in them and so if it happens to break, you could be out of a lot of fish and I have heard that the tank will need some major cleaning. If you think it could break, I would suggest looking for something else that cant break or isnt full of back chemicals. Maybe even one of those 'sticker' thermometers that you plaster to the outside of the tank just to be on the safe side.

yea I'd get one of the sticker thermometers because your CAE could kill himself and other inhabitants of the tank if he breaks that thing and he probably could.

:-( hadnt thought about him being able to brake it :X he leaves it alone when its not stuck to the side thoguh, ive kind of given up sticking it back on  hes started moving the sand about too he has it pilled up infront of his house in like a sort of Motte and baily set up
