Hi Gourami123! What are some details about your system. Size, lighting, how long are the lights on, etc?

hi here are some details

size: 120cm,40,40

lighting: natural light in a sunny room* although will be moving the tank and getting a light soon.
natural light goes for 12 hours approx

other plants:
hygrophilia-starting to get wrinkly
bacopa-going fine
lace fern-going fine
vallis-going fine

chemistry
ph-6.8
temp-25
water hardness-0

FILTER-fluvalu3
glass aquarium
water changes 30% fortnight

What is the substrate?

How strong is the fluval filter? Tank size in gallons?

While the natural light is suspect, I have seen natural light tanks do quite well, but these were intentially planned as Walstad-style aquariums. Potting soil, limited waterchanges, dense planting, limited stock, the whole nine yards. Do you have a picture of your system?

substrate is medium to small gravel

150 litre tank
filter 90-150 litres

cant get a good enough photo with the position of the tank even with blinds closed since they light the room up red when closed

with the algea i first thought it was dead leaves but when you look close it grows on the leaves and stems
but only with the cabomba

You might need another filter. Even in my low-light, low-techs, I still aim for 10x turnover. It should circulate 10x the volume of the tank in an hour.

Photo period is also too long and possibly too inconsistent. What happens when it's cloudy, sunny, you get my meaning?

in about a week ill be moving it and getting a light
how long should i leave it on for?
do you know what i can do about the algea?

Well, I'd start with about 6 hours and see where that goes. It depend on the light level and the plant mass, though.

I'd have to see a picture of the algae to diagnose it.
