algea balls?

are these balls of algea on my driftwood? are they harmful?

I'm not quite sure what they are Are they green or white?

are they black and tufty? do they look the same when you take them out of the water or do they make little strings? Need more info....

there very light green with a little brown in the center, and i havnt took them out of the water, there like little algea affro puffs.

so those are the gray balls in the pic, not the green ones? I would think they are algea, but I dunno... if they're not harming anything, then I would say just some weird algae.
