Algae

Hi, I was wondering if algae has the same benefits as other plants in the aquarium such as lowering nitrates and improving the water quality. Any help would be appreciated!

It may...don't really know or care..it is ugly !! and I want it gone !!

Algae will out grow your tank and cover and ruin everything...go look at any lake or river in the GTA...YUCK

Yes, algae does consume nutrients and nitrates etc etc, but they also take the good stuff, and like GreyLegion said, they look pretty bad.

I agree that it's ugly, I was just wondering. I am starting to see a little green on the side of one of my tanks so I guess I'll remove it.
