I was doing a water change in my 5 1/2 gal baby guppy tank and I noticed in the corner where my filter is at the top where my water stops is some red stuff..I dont know what this is!!! Is this a type of Algae? What caused it? Will it hurt my baby fish? I have never had a problem with algae, and the only algae I know of is the green, I have never seen RED...I have 3 patches of it one in the corner and 2 on the sides of it...If anyone can help please do, I am very worried!!! :(

There r algae of different colours! I've heard of something called "red tide" back in Hong Kong when there is a sudden increase of red algae in the water n many fishies cant survive this.

I'm not sure what caused this tho. Perhaps it's an increase in temp, O2, or bad water quality?

Does it look fuzzy??
my dad gets a type of GOOD algea that's red but it's fuzzy. If you don't like it take it off and hope it doesnt come back. Also, algea grows from light. I read somewhere that the less you're light is on, the less algea you'll get.
