so i started a fish-less cycle about a month ago and ive kind of put the fish tank on the back burner because ive been busy and i noticed the other day that i had ALOT of algae. haha... so i decide ill just go get a small common pleco to keep the algae at bay untill i ordered my fish and then i would just toss the pleco in my goldfish tank. well after a short 8-10 hours of being in the tank i get home this morning and see he ate ALL of the algae. i mean i had it growing on the real rocks, gravel, shells and glass and this little guy just cleaned house!

just thought it was kind of cool he ate it all that fast so i thought i would rant a little about it here..because god knows everyone else in my life could care less about my fish stories.

Hope you are aware that the common plecs can reach 2ft. This in combination with goldfish is one messy tank.
Generally in planted tanks, we look for the direct cause of the algae rather than a silver bullet "cure". Algae is telling us that something is wrong and most of the time that the plants are missing out on something.
Glad you're happy with the results.

no live plants in the tank. i grew the algae myself really. haha.. i kept the light on alot to establish some algae for when my mbuna come but it got out of hand.

also, once spring comes the goldfish will move back to the pond and the pleco will find a new home. :good:
