Algae?

Hi I have these green threads growing on one of my plants (Jave fern I think).

Looks like green cotton thread.

Is this algea? If so how do I get rid of it. Ditch the whole plant? or can I clean it off?

The closest match seems to be staghorn, but I'm not 100% sure.

Since it is only on that one plant, I will probably just bin the whole thing.
