For the past few weeks, I've noticed a certain type of algae inhabiting my tank. Its growing on the leaves of my plants, on the moss, on bogwood and on the glass.
Its dark green and looks like hair. It looks kinda like BBA, but isn't growing in clumps like BBA generally does, the hairs are a bit more individual.
Any ideas as to how to get rid? looks awful! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like thread algae? Have you got any pics?

If it is thread algae it can have a few causes, from low C02 to ammonia spikes.

are you dosing any C02?

Nope, have not dosed any CO2 whatsoever!

I haven't a clue how to mate to be honest. Any suggestions?

give us a few stats, what is you lighting, how heavily planted is your tank, what ferts are you dosing?
