My tank has 5 adult guppy, 10 growing fry, 2 corries, and a snail(18gallon)

All of the sudden I started getting alot of algae!

I feed 2 min feeds 3 times a day. Amonia and ph are cool.

What do I do?

There are several things you could do to combat algae.

Lessen the amount of light you give ... does the tank get direct sunlight, cuz that could be a problem.

Some have had success with adding phos-x or similar products to the filter that lower phosphates in the water, which contributes to algae.

What helped my tanks was adding live plants. The live plants absorb whatever it is that the algae needs to grow.

Newly cycled tanks also are prone to having algae growth.

How long has your tank been cycled? How long do you leave the light on?

A few ideas in order of importance:

1. Cut your feedings in half.

2. Is your tank planted? If not, plant it heavily.

3. Are you moving the fry out as they get older? If so, consider a Siamese Algae Eater.

Yeah, I've been leaving the light on all day while I'm at work. Maybe I'll leave it off? Trying to grow the young gupps fast and colorful so I'd rather not cut back on feeding. It's planted with live plants but not what I would call heavily. I could get some more plants. What do yall think?

I think more plants might help. Also cut back on the light... I have my lights on a timer, so they're on for about 9 or 10 hours per day.
