Algae?

Is it true that algae growing is a sign of a cycled tank? I noticed som algae this morning for the first time and was wondering if it has cycled. I ran out of tests a few days ago so i can't check the water levels at the moment!!

Not really, though how do you run out of tests if this is your first tank? or is it not?

I was using a mates old tests as she sold her tank. They were pretty old so there was not much left. And i thought that algae could only grow in cycled tank?

i've had green algae in an uncycled tank before.

Algae is often a sign that your tank is still cycling. But there are also a 1000 and 1 other reasons why you may have algae. I wouldn't worry about it until you finish cycling your tank.
