Hello everyone, hope you are all doing well.

Just have a quick question that I am sure many of you can answer..?

I have a small 10gallon that I want to have hair algae EVERYWHERE other then the front of the tank (I clean it regularly). I have a nice start of hair algae growing throughout the tank, and I have added a 2 extra 15 and 20watt bulbs to help speed up the process (which is working fine btw). Anyhow, once I have the desired amount of algae, will it continue to live/grow if I remove all the extra light or will it die off?

In the next week or 2 I wish to remove all extra lighting from the tank. Once I do this I am hoping all the algae growing will stay the same / continue to grow. If it dies off then I have a bit of a problem. Any ideas or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone,
Colen.

EDIT: for spelling

growing algea is quite easy, but controlling it's growth is quite hard

so what you want to do is get lots of light to get it growing, and then maintain it without it growing?

hmmm

Too much light will make it grow, too little will make it die off

I guess you'll have to try different combinations until you find something you like.

It is fine if it continues to grow, I was just wondering if I moved all the extra lighting and left one 15watt bulb if the algae would die off, or continue to live/grow?

Thanks for the reply,
Colen.
