Hey Guys...Just cycled my first tank. Every thing went great thanks to you guys.I have a 30 Gal tank with platys, neons, and ( my wife had to have these) guppies. Will 3 otos be enough to keep my algae under control or will I need more? No algae yet but trying to think ahead for stocking levels. Thanks for any input...

You don't NEED otos to keep your algae under control. Provided you don't over-feed and your tank doesn't recieve too much light, an occasional algae scrape while you do a water change should suffice. Besides, otos come with the need to keep water quality perfect, provide extra foods (often time-consuming blanched veggies) and they require an established tank. To answer the question though, yes, 3 would be enough. You'd need to supplement their diet though and make sure the tank's been running for at least 6 months before attempting them.

If you don't intend having live plants then just limit your lighting to when you are viewing the tank. This is the best algae prevention.
