We have a minor problem with algae.

Its the long, black, fine type and its attached to the top of the castle and also to the plants in the tank. I need to know how to get rid of this as my dad had this before and had major problems. He had to change everything in his tank to get rid of it.

Any ideas?

Apart from a good scrub, you could use a 25% bleach solution, and leave it soaking in that for a short period, remove the castle from the bleech, and then clean over and over to remove the dead algae any trace of bleach. You know when its ok to go back in the tank because there is no smell of bleach.

Alternatively, if your tank is big enough, try Siamese algae eaters.
