Algae? What Kind And How To Remove?

pics might be hard but will try in the morning. The stuff looks like tiny little hairs (clear or colorless) on top of leaves. Some will grow to 4-5" others stay 1/2" on top of leaves. Its def not green hair algae, as like i said, it is colorles. It does not tangle but grows straight up on leaves. Any ideas? Pics of it might be hard but will try in the morning.

The fact that it is colourless sounds a bit odd? Algae is a lower plant but its still a plant and need the green chlorophyll to get food so if its not green could it not be something else?
