Fish Crazy
So I've got a 20g long tank with two 18w lights which tend to be on too long and a Eheim 2217 running at around 60-75%. The tank is pretty heavily planted in fluorite so I have been dosing the full regime of Seachem fertilizers, albeit imprecisely, I am sure, including weekly 50% water changes. As a carbon source, I am using Excel. And the plants have been growing in great, with the exception of the Eleocharis parvula, which has not been growing at all, up or sideways, two months into the tank. But so is the green spot algae and the staghorn algae. I know that the former is generally caused by a lack of phosphorus and the second by a lack of CO2. In fact, I understand that the former can be causes by a lack of CO2 as well. But my question is not about how to get rid of the algae, specifically, but rather how I should be dosing. I have been following the 20g treatment plan and I wonder if I shouldn't be doing something larger, especially in terms of carbon. The reason is that it is planted like a 30, and heavily and not like a 20 and so I wonder if the plants don't need more as such. Any comments?
I am provide pictures if needed and other information but the question is really just whether or not I should treat the tank as a 20 or a 30 in terms of Excel.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
