Hi there i have a 190l quite heavily planted tank. Just recently alot of algae has started to grow on the glass which i have to scrub off quite often, also there is like spider web kind of algae in my tank just appearing, which seems to web from leaf to leaf of certain plants. This kind of algae seems to appearing rapidly on the large leaves of amazon sword and is proving quite a problem to control.
I currently am running CO2 into my tank at about 30ppm.

Can anyone give me some reasons why this has started to occur??

Also i dont have any floating plants at the mo so no light is being blocked out.

Thanks
anyhelp wil do

are u adding ferts?

did u slack on a water change? did u overfeed this week?

I am trying to find possible causes of built up nutrients, most of the time algae forms because of nutrients that the plants aren't using.

have u pruned reccently? if not then your plants may have slowed down growth because of their size and therefore are not using as much nutrients, hence the algae.

ummm has there been extra sunlight coming in through a window?

there is a lot of possible reasons.

Regular green dust algae that grows on the glass is normal and not indicative of a problem. Just scrape it off when you do water changes. The hair algae is usually from too much iron in the tank. From Steve Hampton: "Manually remove as much algae as possible. Do a 50-70% water change. Dose nitrate, phosphate, and traces to the needed amounts. Insure that CO2 is in the 15-30ppm range...consistently. Repeat the manual removal, water change, and redosing of nutrients on a weekly basis. Adding an algae eating crew will help eliminate and keep this algae in check. Personally I have great success with SAE's, Rosy Barbs, American-Flag Fish, Amano Shrimp, and Bristlenose Plecos.
