I've recently given my plecco away because I want to get some plants for my tank and it's a very messy fish. As expected algae is now starting to bloom in the tank. Does anyone know the names of any algae eaters I could buy that wouldn't eat my plants as well?

Otocinclus affinis and varients (Dwarf Suckermouth fish)
Ancinstrus sp. (Bristlenose) - sometimes can eat softer plants
Crossocheilus siamensis - Siamese Algae Eater
Caridina japonica - Amano shrimp
Most livebearers

Personally I wouldn't rely on algae eating fish as the soul method for algae control. The pinned algae article will help.
