Algae Problem In Secondary Tank - {pictures}

They are incredibly muscular and can pry apart shells, exoskeletons, et cetera. They are wonderful animals and do have their place in aquaria; but unfortunately a reef tank isn't it. You could take a chance, as the juveniles are occasionally herbivours.
 
Wow, that's interesting to know. I have no idea really what that starfish has been eating...I know I do feed my tanks a little extra so the starfish and crabs have something to eat after it floats down to them...
 
Don't know if this helps at all but we had the same problem when we put a new light on the tank. Just used an aquarium light from home depot like 20 dollars and it did that to our tank. We got different lighting and now its gone.
