All of a sudden i have started getting lots of algae being produced. my light is on 8 hours a day. how come its all of a sudden? (tank has been running, with fish, for about 2 months now) also, what kind of plants should i get, i have been told this can help out.

thanks

It is likely that now your tank is maturing that algae will grow faster than in the beginning. But whereabouts is your tank positioned? With summer coming, is your tank getting lots of natural sunlight? This will magnify your algae growth massively.

you can check for phosphorus levels in your tank as well. Most fish foods (pre-prepared) contain a % of phosphorus from the algae and other plant materials they are made from. Over time, this can build up if your not keeping up on the water changes. Also, without keeping up on the wc's, the nitrates will build too. Both are nutrients that plants will use to grow, so this could also be a piece of the puzzle
