Howdy,

I've got a decent piece of driftwood in my tank.
Water level is about 18-19 inches, top most part of the wood is about 16 inches.

The top inch or inch and a half of the wood has developed a green fuzz over it. Blue Green Algae??.
Also now in the same area i can see what looks like a black hair algae i guess, small black bits that flow in the current 0.5 to 1cm long.

It a new tank, cycle finshed in late April.
I've also had some brown algae on the glass.

I've got 2 amazon swords, some java moss, and recently added some hygro poly as a fast grower to help combat the brown algae after reading something on here.
Concerned the algae will take over if I don't correct this.

ammonia is often the main cause of algae. With the wood being colser to the light, growth is faster (whether it be plants or algae) hence why it is more apparent at the top. The best thing to do is to keep cleaning it off, and after a few more weeks when the tank has settled down you should see improvements.

When you clean it off, do a water change after to remove the floating algae spores.
