i came across a fish tank someone was getting rid off so i took it rather than it go to waste. while i was cleaning it out, i came across some algae/mold or something like it in the corners of the tank. very small spots, but i cant get it off. i blasted it with the hose, scrubbed it with a brush, a sponge, rags, dried it with towels, and nothing works. it wont come off. is there any way to get rid of this? or, is it okay to get an aquarium set up and running with these small little spots in it?

try (with caution) using something sharp, like a razor blade.

if it is in the corners (silicone) then i wouldnt use a razor blade!
You could try a toothbrush and a scourer. I always find them useful for corners & tough algae.
