Ok, I have 3 tanks going... all cycled now. But oddly enough, all are showing different forms of algae (or what I think is algae). I need help understanding what is going on.
Tank 1 (30g) --> I put one of those big brown pirate ships in this tank. A bulk of the ship is brown and the sailes are white. A few weeks ago, I noticed what looked like a brown mold on the sails... didn't think much about it. Now, I have a lot of brown spots on the inner tank walls.
Tank 2 (10g) --> This is the most aggresive algae. A green film develops on everything in the tank (walls, filter, and a few decorative things I put in). I can scrape it off and it breaks off in large chunks.... kinda weird. I had put two plants in this tank. I thought one of the plants could have been the source so I took both plants out.
Tank 3 (10g) --> I think this is the normal algae (or, what I would expect to be normal). A little brown algae/fungus/whatever is growing on some of the artificial plants and I can see very light brown algae on the tank walls. This is my daughter's tank and she has been asking for some kind of catfish. I figured the catfish would clean up the walls.
Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks.
