i hate algae soooo much. i have blue/green (only it's brown) in one tank which i'm battling with, and this annoying red brush (i think) in another. (it's short, only a few mm's long, and red-brown and tufty)

the red brush is in a 7.5 gallon sparesly decorated tank with what is at the moment, a few too many juvvie endlers (rehoming solutions coming very soon!) and it's covered everything, the two bits of bogwood, killed the javafern, all over the filter. bless the endlers for trying to nibble it. and my poor spixi apple snail, is now a red-brush snail! he rules out the copper treatment to get rid of it, and any fast growing plants because he eats them. (i have hygrophilla polysperma in all my other tanks, he LOVES the taste of it, damnit, also means he can't be moved to another tank)

any other solutions for this hellish stuff?

Yeh as a quick fix excel will probably kill it. Dose a 3x the suggested rate. I tend to find a single dose of the initial or post-water change rate does the trick. I.e. instead of dosing at 5ml per 40lt, dose at 15ml per 40lt. But do it once and see hos it goes.

Also, this is only a temporary solution, if you dont sort the root cause it'll only come back.
