Hello, I've got what appears to be a thin film of green algae floating on top of my planted 240L. I've tried upping the surface movement but this didn't help. Has anybody got similar problems or any experience of getting rid of it? It just seems to keep getting worse.

Post your tank stats, nitrate phosphate levels Ph etc, it will give us an idea where to start to identify the problem, also post your lighting levels and do you use co2, any relevent information really.

It's normally harmless - a mixture of microbes and algae in its own little ecosystem. I'm surprised extra surface movement hasn't helped. What is your feeding regime? I used to get it just after adding frozen foods i.e. bloodworm.

Welcome to the forum mate! :D

I always suspected you'd drag me in here somehow mate

I wouldn't be that bothered, as you said they are harmless, but its getting quite bad and starting to block out light, and I'm only feeding flake every other day.

I'm testing water tommorow morning 'cos I'm on nights now so see what you think then.
