Hi ya,

can anyone help? - my water parameters are fine but I seem to be having a lot of algae - what are the best small fish fish to help with this problem -

MY ph is 7 - 7.5 and my water temperature is 78-79

I have stop putting the lights on for so long - down to 7 hrs a day which has helped but it seems to happen overnight - one moment it is fine the next the back wall of the tank is quite green?

First of all, have you identified the type of algae you're dealing with ? That might help identifying the best algae eater for your tank / and tank mates.
Secondly, how big is your tank ? And who are the current inmates ? :)

We need more info...

there are a ton of things that eat algae and some are better than others

Shrimp
Fish
Snail

you have a lot of research to do before you start dumping more critters into your tank..

Plecos and ottos without a doubt the best in my opinion.

Bare in mind some plecos can get BIG.

This would lead me to believe it may be blue green algae (bright green, slimey looking). If that is the case, there aren't any algae eaters that will eat it. It is very difficult to get rid of. Best way is by removing it by hand.
