I have a fairly new aquarium, about 3 months old. My lfs advised me and sold me 1x albino cory 1x sucking loach. :)

But after reading an article on this site, the sucking loach is a "chinese" algae eater, that when older will attack my other fish?

Will this definately happen, and how long have I got before it turns into a savage beast?

Should I take it back in exchange for another algae eater or see how it goes?

What is the best algae eater, for keeping the inside of the glass clean in my aquarium, bearing in mind it holds 25ltrs?

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

I can't help with the original problem but I have got 3 Golden Sucking Loach, apart from looking really nice they seem to be doing a good job, although the tank is not unclean anyway partly due to the Golden Apple Snails and Shrimp I have in there as well.

Ottos are good algae eaters and they don't grow very large. Thy can be prone to white spot though when stressed or if water quality not good.

my ottos are great at keeping my 10 gallon tank clean. keep them in groups of 3 or more to keep their stress down. they are great little workers. they shouldnt get any bigger than 2 inches

I had a sucking loach once (for about 24-48 hours) - thing was an absolute nightmare, so went straight back.

Have now got 3 Ottos in my 28L tank, and they seem to do a pretty good job.

Also, Corys really prefer to be kept in groups of 3 or more (love each other's company) - have got some Albino ones too, really cute.
