Hello recently i asked about the algae situation in my ten gallon with two dwarf gouramis. I was told i could get 3 otto to go with them. My lfs has no otto atm but they have "algae eaters". Would these work as an alternative? If so how big do they get/ how many should i get? If not are there any alternatives that would work for this tank config? thanks in advance!

I have pit bull plecs they don't grow to big.

I would suggest a rubber lipped plec. But watch out because they may be labeled as:

rubber nosed plec
rubber lipped plec
bull dog plec
pit bull plec

Any of the names above are the same fish. I believe they grow to be about 5.5 inches max. I've had mine for 3 months and he hasn't grown a centimeter! He is about a 1.5 inches now. Although I never see him sucking on the glass, but then again I've never had an algae problem. He doesn't have to "work" for his food and clean the glass...he just waits for me to drop in the sinking algae wafers.
