Hello

can anyone recommend a good community brown/green algae eater for a tang shellies tank?? tank is 180 litres (uk) - 3.5 feet long. I know I could put a bristlenose in there - but im not too keen on them.....

I would say bristles are your best bet. Have you looked at any albino ones? I like them and don't care for the brown ones.
 
Its not that im not keen on the fish itself - but they are £25 each at my local store. I wondered if there was another algae eater that would be suitable... and cheaper!

£25 each?! Well I would say that shop is ripping you off. Look on aquarist classified ads there are always people selling bristelnoses for as low as £1 each. Where about in the country are you?
 
25 quid each!!!! they must be peppermint bristlenoses or another hard to breed variety, a common bn is nowhere near that much
 
No - i went back today and asked. They are just common, plain old bristlenoses. Im in Newcastle, England......
