Algae Eater Changing Color

I have an algae eater that was very dark brown, almost black when I got it a couple of months ago. Over the last two weeks it is changing color to light brown, almost white mostly in the front of its body. Is this normal?
The other fish seem to be fine.

what are your water stats?
mine went from dark brown to a lighter brown in a few weeks after i added him and he was perfectly normal with good water quality.... keep an eye on him over teh next few days...

I checked with an aqarium store. The thirty years expert says it's normal for loachs to change color from light to dark or visa versa. She says it happens all the time so I guess I won't worry about it for now.
