So my tanks is starting to get some brown algae on the plants and glass. Temp is 85, and most plecos and otos will stick to the side of the discus. My question is are there any good algae eaters that can tolerate that temp and leave discus alone. I hear Bristlenose plecos work, but is this true?

I've got bristlenoses and they do good job re: algae and are fine with the temperature and leave the discus alone.
Am pretty sure that logically, discus would eat shrimp - does anyone know if that is correct, as I would like to add shrimp to my tank?

A bristlenose should be fine, but I'd be tempted to cut back on the hours of light a little instead if your plants will take it. Plecos produce a hell of a lot of waste and you'll always be wondering if it will suck on the discus...

It might be worth adding another discus to make a group of 5.Although technically overstocked it will spread aggression. :good:

My ghost shrimps are doing excellent in the tank, they eat all the leftovers at the bottom, but did nothing for the algae. They suprised me tolerating the temp so well. So much hiding for them anyways, but the discus even float right by them and stare a little at most. They tried nipping a little the first day btu the shrimp shot back so fast, and from then on I never saw my discus bother the ghosts again. I never heard about them being companions for discus but I did the experiment myself, and was quite pleased.

I`m glad it works well with shrimp i really fancy some with my discus and was worried my discus might munch on them, i did have some in the begining but they disapeared really quick, i think i threw them all away (when i trimed the plants i found one in a curly leaf as i was about to chuck in bin)
I leave my lights off for afew days too, it works well on algae, flourish excel is also v.good
